Celebs in Our Favorite Trends: Velvet

The 90’s are back and with them they brought back one of my favorite current trends, velvet! We have seen velvet clothing pieces in all shades making a statement during the fall season, and they are here to stay for winter as well. Navy, tones of green, blush and reds, and black are the go-to colors when rocking this trend. Velvet comes in all forms: boots, tops, dresses, pants, rompers, even velvet chokers. These are all fabulous pieces for anyone wanting to relive their 90’s days! Velvet can be worn on a day to day basis as a casual statement, or it can be used to make jaws drop at a party or special event. If the idea of a full-on velvet ensemble makes you nervous, a black velvet bootie is a good start to getting comfortable with the fabric. Now, for the girls out there who are ready to stand in the spotlight, a velvet maxi dress in a sultry red is the perfect item for you. Add a black faux fur coat and you’ll be giving off Rihanna vibes in no time! For a more casual, day-to-day look, dress up a simple tee and some black jeans or trousers with a black velvet blazer–a piece that can be dressed up or down. Blazers are a staple in any closet, so adding velvet fabric turns this simple piece into a trendy look. When we first saw velvet in the 90’s, it was mainly used as a fabric for young girl’s dresses. And now, in 2016, there is a little bit of velvet out there for the fashion lover of any age!
