COLOUR TREND: RED TO TOE

Red is the colour of choice for Fall 2017 and we’re here to give you all the details! Red-to-toe isn’t just about adding a splash of colour to an outfit – it’s about a pattern-free, all-over matching head (or red!) to toe outfit. This trend is perfect for those of you that like to make a statement with their clothing. Red is not only powerful and bold, but it evokes romance, happiness and confidence.

Designers are embracing this trend with it being seen on the Fall 2017 catwalks of Fendi and Max Mara. Arguably, Givenchy was the designer house most invested in the red-to-toe trend with their first collection without Riccardo Tisci being all-red.

The trend is diverse with styles to cater to every need, whether it’s a red coat with a matching bag and boots, a top and skirt combination or just a simple red dress. Regarding celebrity style when it comes to this trend, Bella Hadid is the ultimate inspiration in her red jumpsuit, trench coat and tinted sunglasses. Arizona Muse also has her own take on the trend, combining a vivid red dress with a darker red coat.

FALL TREND WATCH: Dazzle

We might only be in the middle of Summer, but it’s time to start looking at Fall trends. With the dazzle trend, designers are hoping for the return of nights out and dressing up rather than spending your night watching Netflix. This trend featured on the catwalks of Saint Laurent, Balmain, and Paco Rabanne and makes a statement with metallics, chainmail, crystal mesh and sequins. Mostly geared toward evening wear, it’s all about ramped-up glamour.

The dazzle trend isn’t just limited to clothing, with shoes and accessories getting the glitter treatment as well. This is something Rihanna picked up on – who was spotted in Saint Laurent’s Swarovski encrusted boots, a mere five days after their catwalk debut. In addition, it can be seen in the futuristic trend that has also emerged for Fall – Space Chic. No one has embraced this more than Chanel, who had a rocket launchpad in the middle of the Grand Palais.

How will you be wearing this trend with Fall comes?

TREND WATCH: SHOES FOR SUMMER

We’ve already posted about one of out favourite Summer shoe trends, espadrilles, earlier in the year. However, this post is dedicated to four more shoe trends that deserve a place in your Summer wardrobe.

The first trend you need to know about is the rainbow shoe. Bright rainbow or candy coloured shoes are the perfect way to top off any summer outfit and bring a bit of fun into your look.

The next easy to wear trend is the mule. Mules come in every style and colour imaginable, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find a pair that suits you. We recommend combining mules with our first trend by opting for a bright colour way and pairing it with Summer denim.

If mules aren’t your thing but you still want a pair of heels for summer, why not go for a block heel. This trend is perfect for those of you who love to wear heels but still want to be comfortable throughout the day.

For those you that are more outgoing, our last Summer shoe trend is definitely for you. To add extra flair to an outfit, go for a kitsch pair of 3D floral shoes.

With four new trends for you to try, there’s no reason not to invest in your perfect Summer shoe!

SUMMER TREND WATCH: STRIPES

Screen Shot 2017-06-15 at 8.52.08 PM.png

Another summer trend watch and this time we’re talking about stripes! Stripes were everywhere on the catwalks this year and come in just about every style imaginable. It’s one of the most wearable Summer trends and it’s super easy to style! Stripes are very versatile and with thick or thin, horizontal or vertical, there is something for everyone.

Seaside stripes were seen on the catwalks of Banana Republic, Altruzarra and Zimmermann and are reminiscent of the patterns of beach essentials such as umbrellas and deck chairs.

On the other hand, banker stripes give off a much more formal feel but can also be worked into your wardrobe for casual outfits. Found in the collections of DKNY and Self Portrait, these stripes are inspired by Wall Street.

So how are our favourite stylish celebrities embracing this trend? Gigi Hadid has gone for more of a seaside stripe and is keeping it casual with a two-piece set from Morgan Lane. Olivia Palermo has opted for a subtle pinstripe blue shirt, embracing the banker stripe trend, and has paired it with another key trend – embroidery. This makes her structured look more casual and gives her the perfect day-to-night outfit.

LIFE’S A BEACH: Swimwear Trends 2017

Summer is upon us and with summer comes, SWIMWEAR! Every year we scour the stores and the internet for the perfect swimsuit that makes just the right statement. Whether on a vacation or just lounging by the pool, the perfect suit can make you feel like a beach goddess. Swimwear has a way of changing every year similarly to trend shifts in our clothing…

And speaking of clothing, there is one trend that has been showing up on just about everything and now it’s making its way to swimwear. Tassels!

These fun little ornaments make every task enjoyable, so much color and movement can add a fun flare to a simple suit. Another trend we see sneaking into the world of swimwear is crochet. This twist on a traditional swimsuit makes you feel like you just stepped back in time. Found in all cuts, colors, and patterns, these crochet beauties are made of  thicker fabric that can make any woman feel secure in her second skin. The saying, ‘history repeats itself’ is one of the most accurate quotes in the fashion world, and swimwear is no exception. One piece swimsuits have made their appearance once more and they are found in every color and pattern. We see these modest suits in sexy cuts with laced up sides, plunging necklines and low, and exposed backs. The classic one piece got a face lift and boy, do they look good.

Another way to keep a covered, yet expose some skin, is a more modest cut with sheer panels and and mesh covered “cut outs”. These fun suits are great if you don’t mind the insane tanlines.

You’re wearing these suits to look good laying out and in pictures anyways, aren’t you?

Step outside of your comfort zone this summer season!

They do say everyone has a bikini body, you just need 1. a body and 2. a bikini.

Confidence is all it takes.

TREND WATCH: GINGHAM

Screen Shot 2017-05-14 at 4.42.01 PM

We’ve recently posted about two trends to watch – espadrilles and mini-bags – and today we’re talking about gingham! Gingham is a pattern that is traditionally viewed as girly and youthful, but this season’s offerings have shown that it’s suitable for adults as well. All of the big designers such as Prada and Versace featured this trend in their SS17 shows, making it a must try for this season.

By having feminine silhouettes such as tailored shirts and jackets, the trend has a more sophisticated look. Furthermore, with different color combinations such as nude and white rather than just red, black or blue, there’s something for everyone in this trend! Other takes on gingham feature embroidered detailing, incorporating another trend for Summer. If you’re not confident in wearing head-to-toe gingham, try incorporating small accessories such as neckties to try out the big Summer trend.Screen Shot 2017-05-14 at 4.42.13 PM

It’s not just designers embracing the gingham trend, celebrities are too and they’re giving us lots of inspiration on how to style our own gingham pieces! Alexa Chung goes for a more structured and modern look, pairing gingham trousers with a printed blouse and heels. Taylor Swift is a long-time lover of gingham, and shows us how to wear a more feminine look with her gingham dress.
